Instructions of Mini Tawa Pizza
Step 1: Prepare the Pizza Dough
Mix ingredients: In a large bowl, combine wheat flour, salt, and baking powder. Add curd and mix well.
Knead: Gradually add water and knead the dough until it is smooth and elastic. Cover and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
Step 2: Prepare the Pizza Sauce
Cook onions and garlic: Heat oil in a pan on medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic and sauté until golden and fragrant.
Add spices and tomato: Stir in oregano, chilli flakes, and salt. Add a little water if needed to prevent sticking.
Simmer: Pour in the fresh tomato puree, add basil leaves, and tomato ketchup. Simmer the sauce until it thickens, then set aside.
Step 3: Prepare the Pizza Toppings
Sauté vegetables: Heat oil in another pan on medium heat. Add diced yellow bell pepper, red bell pepper, green capsicum, and onion.
Season: Season with a pinch of salt and crushed black pepper. Add diced mushrooms and cook until soft. Set aside.
Step 4: Roll Out the Pizza Base and Cut Mini Rounds
Divide and roll: Divide the dough into portions. Roll each portion into a large, thin circle on a flat surface.
Prevent puffing: Use a fork to poke the surface of the rolled dough.
Cut mini rounds: With a round cutter or the edge of a glass, cut out mini pizza rounds from the dough.
Step 5: Pre-cook the Mini Pizza Bases on Tawa
Heat the tawa: Place the tawa on medium heat. Put the mini pizza rounds on the tawa and cook one side for about a minute until bubbles form.
Flip and cook: Flip the dough rounds and cook the other side for another 30 seconds until lightly golden. Remove and set aside.
Step 6: Assemble the Mini Pizzas
Add sauce: Spread a layer of the prepared pizza sauce on the half-cooked side of each mini pizza base.
Top with veggies and cheese: Add the sautéed vegetables and mushrooms as toppings. Sprinkle diced mozzarella cheese on each mini pizza.
Step 7: Cook the Mini Pizzas on Tawa
Final cook: Heat the tawa on low heat. Place the assembled mini pizzas on the tawa, cover with a lid to trap heat.
Melt cheese: Cook on low heat for 5-8 minutes until the cheese melts and the base becomes crispy.
Step 8: Serve
Ready to serve: Once the mini pizzas are cooked, remove them from the tawa and let them cool slightly.
Enjoy: Serve hot and enjoy your delicious mini tawa pizzas with family and friends!
About the Recipe
This recipe uses whole wheat flour for a healthy pizza base. To keep the dough soft and fluffy, I’ve used a little baking powder and yogurt. This combination gives the dough a nice texture that’s not too hard. Some people worry that whole wheat pizza can be tough, but this method keeps it soft and enjoyable for everyone.
We’ll start by making the dough and letting it rest. While it rests, we’ll prepare a simple homemade pizza sauce. I like to cook the sauce with onions, garlic, and tomatoes to make it tangy and slightly spicy – perfect for the Indian palate.
For the toppings, I’m using a mix of colorful vegetables like bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms. You can add your favorite veggies or even some boiled chicken if you prefer. Finally, we’ll cook this pizza on a tawa, layering it with sauce, cheese, and veggies to create a healthy and delightful meal!
Cooking Tips
1. Use fresh yogurt and baking powder to keep the dough soft and fluffy. The combination helps the pizza base stay crisp on the outside while being soft on the inside.
2. When cooking the sauce, add a little sugar if your tomatoes are too sour. This will balance out the flavors and give the sauce a nice, mild sweetness.
3. Use a thick layer of pizza sauce to prevent the dough from getting soggy. Adding a spoonful of ketchup can help thicken the sauce and add a balanced sweetness.
4. Make sure to partially cook the pizza base on one side before adding the toppings. This helps it cook evenly when we add the sauce, cheese, and veggies on the other side.
Pairing Guide
This Vegetable Tawa Pizza pairs well with a chilled glass of lemonade or iced tea. The fresh, tangy flavors of lemonade complement the cheesy, spicy pizza beautifully.
For sides, you can serve this pizza with a light salad or some roasted vegetables. These sides add a refreshing touch to the meal and make it even more wholesome for everyone.
